The security challenge facing America's homeland requires a realistic awareness of the role and liability corporations have in the overall preparedness and readiness to community crisis. Throughout this nation, corporations employ the majority of citizens and manage the work place and community services facilities at all levels. Corporations manage information flow, run hospitals, maintain community transportation and services. There is not one sector which doesn't feel the presence of corporations. This new reality places exceptional responsibility on corporate management not only to train and prepare employees and their families for crisis, but to be a community resource in times of crisis. The public-sector emergency response services are not large enough to care for every citizen without volunteer participation and corporate support, nor are they able to guarantee commercial order. CorpAlert's mission is to help America's corporations develop practical programs in conjunction with national, state and local government authorities and responders to prepare and strengthen corporate viability and capability within the community during crisis. A key component of CorpAlert's mission is to sponsor conferences and meetings that bring together decision makers in the public and private sector to discuss strategies and policies necessary to build a strong and integrated response to community crisis. CorpAlert 2005 is the national annual conference in Washington, D.C. Additionally, CorpAlert and other organizations will sponsor the Corporate Congressional Summit on Homeland Security to discuss policies that can help corporations better prepare for crisis. |
